German Generals Ernst Philipp, Hans Schlemmer and Helmut Staedke

Three German Heer (Army) generals, from left to right: Generalleutnant Ernst Karl Julius Philipp (Kommandeur of 134.Infanterie-Division/XXXV.Armeekorps/9.Armee/Heeresgruppe Mitte), Generalleutnant Dipl.-Ing. Johann "Hans" Schlemmer, and Generalmajor Helmut Staedke (Chef des Generalstabes 9. Armee). At this time, Schlemmer (ex-commander of 134. Infanterie-Division before Philipp) was attended a training course for Armee-Korps commanders. It is possible that this picture taken at the handed-over ceremony of the commander position for 134. Infanterie-Division from Schlemmer (17 December 1941 - 1 June 1944) to Philipp (1 June 1944 - 29 June 1944), attended by Chief of Staff of 9. Armee General Staedke. Only 25 days after this picture was taken, Generalleutnant Ernst Philipp was killed in action near Bobruisk!
